Things are starting to Heat Up: 107-102 C’s

“We’re not a team here that points fingers, we keep everybody accountable, everybody knows what this is in the locker room. We have anything to be said, it’s said in the closed confinements of the locker room and to each other as men, and I want everybody here to respect that.’

Tony Allen started in place for Pierce, there may be something to the idea of moving Ray to Sixth Man and starting TA, the caveat being that he keeps playing on this level. We need scoring off the Bench and Tony seems to feed off of Paul better than Ray.

Eddie and Ray (and Sheed) as the bench brigade…think about it.

Foot Not Broken, Celtics fans can breathe again

News coming out of Waltham is that Paul only has a mid foot strain instead of a broken foot and is being listed as day to day. Luck of the Irish Paul, hope to see you back soon.

A much needed rebound from a tough couple days

Celts 99
Wiz 88

After losing three games in a row, the C’s were able to bounce back last night vs. the Wiz. The C’s trailed during certain times in the game, and there was a scary moment involving Paul and his ankle, but everything proved to be ok. It is time to give all the starters a rest though, there is no point in getting somebody injured so that we can beat up on the Wizards. We need to start thinking about some rest for the starting 5. KG played real well last night scoring 19 points and grabbing 6 boards. Rondo grabs ANOTHER double double to bring this years total to 21. Celts get a much needed night off tonight, but get back to action tomorrow night when they play the Heat at the Garden. Side Note: Congrats to TA! He seems to be back to the old Tony. Keep that hard work up young buck.

Unacceptable

At some point it just gets ridiculous. Championship caliber teams win these types of games. Pierce deferring to an Ice-Cold Ray Allen (-16 +/-) for the final bucket was an epitome of the second half.

Paul Pierce where are you? There has been only one player who has defined the Celtic mystique that Larry Legend and Bill Russell set before you, and it damn sure is not Ray Allen. We need a heavy dose of the truth and SOON.

The scene at 6:30 in this video seems appropriate.

“It’s all about the kids”

Doc Don’t Care

“I could care less about that. You know how I feel about that whole thing.”

Doc Rivers referring to a comment that the Celtics determine who coaches the 2010 All Star game in Dallas.

Perk and Rondo to the rescue, C’s beat Clips

C’s 95
Clips 89

It’s now safe to say that if Rajon Rondo does not make it to the All Star game in Dallas it’s a damn sham. Rondo snagged his 19th double double last night (16 points and 12 assists, and just to make it a little sweeter he pulled in 7 boards and had 4 steals) which now makes him number three amongst guards behind Steve Nash and Chris Paul.

Perk hauled in 15 boards last night to lead the team last night. The beast also added 9 points and 2 blocks to the stat sheet last night. Kevin looked furocious, and it was great to see his presence on the court again. Paul was 11-11 from the stripe, and Ray added 15 points to push the C’s to their 29th victory of the season. Next up is the Magic on Thursday, look for that one to be a heated battle.

KG back. Celts get ready to face the Clips

Ricky D returns to the Garden tonight as the C’s take on the Clips at 7:30. The C’s lost their last game to the Clips by just 2 points as the red and blue narrowly escaped being taken out, so expect Boston to come out with some fire in their bellies. According to the Globe Ticket won’t have many restrictions tonight. He will start as usual, but if it’s a blow out, I wouldn’t expect Doc to keep him in more than needed. “I am a person who works really hard at what I do. I come in here with the same intensity, same mind-set to get better.”

On another note, Paul Pierce seems to want some redemption from that “embarrassing” showing in 2002-2003 when his pants fell down during the competition. “The craziest part is, I never practiced for it. I thought it was just go out there, shoot and make shots. But you’ve got to practice grabbing the ball off the rack and getting to the next spot. You’re used to getting a pass. If I did it this year, I would set up the racks and actually practice for it. Because you’ve got to have a strategy, I think.” To Paul’s credit, he is shootin’ 47% from beyond the arc, so why not give the man a redemption shot?

Now Starting for the Atlanta Hawks – Bennett Salvatore & Marc Davis

From Bennett’s Wikipedia Profile:
Bennett Salvatore (born January 9, 1950 in Stamford, Connecticut)[1] is a professional basketball referee and die-hard Atlanta Hawks fan in the National Basketball Association (NBA).[1] As of the 2006–07 NBA season, Salvatore has officiated 1,385 regular season, 167 playoff, and 20 NBA Finals games.[1] He became notable during the 2006 NBA Finals for controversial calls in the series between the Dallas Mavericks and Miami Heat.[2]

Seriously a Die-Hard Hawks fan should never be allowed to Ref their games, particularly in the Post-Donaghy NBA. I digress.

Still its amazing when a 4th Quarter like Joe Johnson had, he was on fire, is erased because he was outshined by his teammates Bennett Salvatore and Marc Davis.

With the Celtics up 10, Salvatore knew he had to do something to salvage his teams hopes, fortunately a clean wrap up by Glen Davis was all he need to spur into action for the Hawks. Flagrant foul.

But obviously, that wasn’t enough to get his team some more shots, so a little resistance from Doc and “It was ‘tech,’ then you’re thrown out the game.’’-Perk. Hawks Teammate Marc Davis, saw that the game was switching to the Hawks favor, so immediately threw a tech at Armond Hill for standing there quietly at the bench.

Doc stayed humble and blamed himself: “I told the guys after the game, No. 1, that’s always on me, I don’t think I should ever get thrown out. I don’t know when the last time I was thrown out actually [St. Patrick’s Day, 2009, against Chicago]. I don’t care how bad you think calls are at that moment, you have to somehow try to bring yourself back in.’’
