Check out this post from Real GM
I don’t normally post things from chat boards but in light of some of the mood we have sensed around this town lately, I think it’s appropriate….
“…Yes. You and I (and those over there looking the other way) are a bunch of crybabies.
If the team is young, then we suck because the team is young.
We get a high pick in a loaded draft, then we cry for the pick to be dealt because we don’t need any more rookies around here.
When the pick is actually dealt, we complain about how strong the draft was and how we missed out on a future All-Star.
The pick is traded along with a 3-year veteran and a hobbled 30-year old for a 32-year old who finished last season as the 7th top scorer overall (even on bad wheels!), and we still complain. (Some of us would also go the distance and say that the guys we traded away were worthless, but the trade still sucks.)
Those who complained that “you can’t build a team through the draft” and “we need veterans who know how to play the game”, now complain that the team is old –even when the team’s average player is 24 years old… and right after a team won a championship averaging 30 years old.
We bash our players, yet as soon as they are gone they become players that should have never been traded away. We drool for some other players that we proceed to hate as soon as they become Celtics.
If we trade Jefferson for Garnett, we mortgage the future. If we pass on the Garnett deal, we suck because Pierce’s window will close.
If we only manage to win 15 games, we suck.
If we win 25 games, we suck.
If we win 35, 45 or 55, we suck.

“I love sucking!”
If the #1 team in the league beats us once and again, it’s because we suck. However, if we manage to beat that team it’s because they played to the level of the competition. Or because they were missing their sixth man. Or because Pierce’s buzzer-beater was a one-in-a-million hit.
If we run away with the division, it has no value because the division is the laughingstock of the league. But when another team wins the same division, they are great and have a bright future because their GM knows what he’s doing and he has a plan.
If our GM has a plan but we don’t see it or we don’t understand it, then it’s obvious to us that the GM is lying and doesn’t have a plan. Any of us geniuses could run the Celtics and make it a contender in no time.
If rumours start floating about the Celtics trying to get a certain player, then the GM sucks because that player is worthless and doesn’t bring us closer to a championship. If another team is rumoured to be about to deal for the same player, we point fingers at our GM for not thinking quicker and outwitting the other team to get said player.
If we make a trade that saves the Celtics 15 millions, then the owners are penny-pinchers. If, however, we make a trade in which the owners sacrify 15 millions, then the trade is a financial disaster.
If players don’t want to come to play in Boston, it’s because the city is racist. If they don’t want to go play in Atlanta, it’s because the Hawks are not a contender.
Nothing seems to be good enough for us Boston fans, because we know better. Maybe that’s why we earned the “most knowledgeable fanbase of the NBA” label. What’s not to be proud of?…”
