It appears that the divorce proceedings of beast lair guru Shaquille O’Neal and his wife Shaunie (real name Va’Shaundya) are becoming a bit contentious, although not quite in theJason Kidd kind of way.

The Big Aristotle says in divorce papers filed last week that his wife has been, “secretive” about her assets, including certain properties that she may have bought without his knowledge. Hmmm, accusing your wife of stealing money isn’t very kosher Shaq. But then again, we weren’t there. Extra TV’s web site has a link to thecourt filing. In addition, the Times of London has an interesting little tidbit on other
problems that may have contributed to the demise of the marriage, including Shaq’s appearance in a tell all book written by porn star Karrine Steffans, who said she had a relationship with the big man years ago. A relationship in which Shaq allegedly paid her a princely sum of money to be a friend with benefits. However, it might have been Steffan’s revelation that “Shaq’s anatomy was “average – for a 5ft 4in man”, and that he sweated so much during their lovemaking that she had to turn over the mattress,” that really caused a rift in the big man’s marriage.

Ouch. Being famous is a bitch sometimes.

Personally, I’ve always enjoyed Shaq and in the little glimpses I got of Mrs. Shaq, I thought they were a pretty cool couple, it’s kind of sad really. Let’s hope this doesn’t get too ugly. Even though it’s better for us if it does.
