Jackie Mac out at the Globe

Oh yeah
Shocking news that the original basketball fox is out at the Boston Globe, after accepting the sinking ships buyout offer. Well color us quite sad as we have always been huge fans of Jackie and her often insightful columns. You have a standing job offer with perkisabeast any time Jackie.
So now the Globe will have only shitheel Shaugnessy and the cantankerous Bob Ryan as their only columnists, which begs the question, does the paper think we’re stupid? And, why in the world does Marty Barron still have a job?
Just more proof that the death of newspapers is suicide and not murder.

Steve Bailey said Marty Baron would go down in history as one of the two greatest Globe editors ever. Take that for what it’s worth, but if there’s one thing Bailey isn’t is a suck-up. He also knows business. Or as I call it, bidniss.

Maybe he said that because of the fat buyout package he got. All I know is that the quality of the globe has declined worse than the NY Knicks

It may be the most boring paper in the universe.

Right out of the Wire here. So who’s going to play Templeton and make up the news?

That sux. JMac is the only Globe sports columnist I liked. Bob Ryan is tough to stomach, even more so after having watched more than 30 seconds of the particularly noxious Globe 10.0 debacle. And what is left to say about Dan Dolla’-haugne-dolla’-dolla’-hy? One (compound) word: dolla’-ux.
Boys, this underscores a serious question: Seeing what’s happening to newspapers now, do you regret (other than pub club) the time, money, effort and general idealism (insert: spent/usurped/fostered/wasted) on Comm. Ave.? At this point, it’s fair to say my jury is still out.
Thanks, JMac, for sending my journalism career into existential-crisis mode…

Jayson Blair already worked at the Globe.

Weirdest interview ever…on the new show “Bathing with Bierko”

I don’t think you can regret spending money on advanced degrees unless it is some sort of fine arts creative writing degree. I never regret the time on Comm. Ave.
