The Hall of Fame can kiss our ass

Once again, the Naismith Hall Of Fame and its voters prove they are both classless and stupid.

Somehow, these boneheads ignore the contributions of a hall of fame credentialed player and three time champion like Dennis Johnson, while inducting Adrian Dantley and Dick Vitale…..DICK FREAKEN VITALE?!? We cannot argue with Olajuwon and Ewing was certainly a great player and mostly deserving. However, the short sighted insanity of these people is astounding. There is no justification for such a shameless omission.

We won’t even dignify the induction of that clown Vitale, who has no basketball credentials whatsoever. However, lets look at Dantley’s contributions compared to Johnson

    Dantley:
    All-NBA Second Team (1981, ‘84); NBA Rookie of the Year (1977); Comeback Player of the Year (1984); Six-time NBA All-Star (1980, ‘81, ‘82, ‘84, ‘85, ‘86); Olympic gold medalist (1976).

    Johnson: NBA champion (1979, ‘84, ‘86); NBA Finals MVP (1979); All-NBA First Team (1981); All-NBA Second Team (1980); All-Defensive First Team (1979-83, ‘87); All-Defensive Second Team (1984-86); Five-time NBA All-Star 1979-82, ‘85).

That doesn’t seem like a significantly better resume to me. In fact, it looks like DJ’s career was a whole lot more significant, especially when you take into account that he led one team to a title as its best player, and played starting point guard on arguably the greatest team of all time. Never mind, he also won an NBA Finals MVP, Defensive player of the year, and was one of the most clutch players in the history of the NBA.

Meanwhile, the only edge Dantley has is that he managed to average ten more points a game in two less years of service, while never winning a title. He was a one dimensional gunner who never took a team over the top.

What kind of insanity is this? Where is the justice? How can they purport to be experts at basketball. This is a disgusting joke. Shame on the Hall of Fame. Shame on them. You’re all dead to me.

And it is with a self congratulatory back slap we offer our reader(s) DJ in his Sonics uniform. The man went from NBA Champion Superstar to the table setter/ defensive star of a Dynasty. It is a tragedy that the people voting for the Hall of Fame know so little about basketball and the importance of defense and team play. Dj was a class act, a player willing to subjugate his role for the betterment of the organization as a whole. Hats off to you Dennis, you are missed.

I couldn’t agree with you more. F the hall of fame voters. This is similar to the Jim Rice situation. Trying to keep a good man down. BTW…love PIAB.com. Keep it rolling. Gave you a plug: http://bawstinsports.blogspot.com/2008/04/nba-hall-of-fame-diss.html
