Panic Grips Cleveland As Millions Jump Off Bandwagon

Certainly my favorite comment on the Cleveland Plain Dealer today. Maybe its a good lesson for the Celtics fans, whose testicular fortitude in the past few days has certainly been tested. Man up boys, we’re ending this thing on Friday.

I’m DONE with having to always say “well, they blew another opportunity” or “they blew another lead”. THIS IS THE THEME OF CLEVELAND SPORTS, PEOPLE! WAKE UP!
I’m DONE with having to swallow inconsistent reffing in all pro sports, especially in the NBA. Did we get as many no-call as the Celts? I don’t know, but it appeared like everytime LeBron or Delonte drove and got knocked down, there was no call. But out on the perimeter, if any Cav breathed on a Celt, the whistle blew. Oh well……..
I’m DONE with this team’s lack of effort from the charity stripe. Why does it seem every opponent shoots much better than we do from the line? Seriously, when are the Cavs going to take it seriously and make practicing foul shouts necessary? Again, another difference between a good team and a great team.
And finally, I’m DONE investing time and energy into watching and following these games. I’ve got much better ways to spend my time than to follow teams that perennially are better than average, but always find a way to shoot themselves in the foot and lose.
It really makes me think it’s all done on purpose. It’s becoming obvious that somewhere way up in our team’s organizations, the execs know that they can make nearly as much money fielding a team that goes a round or two in the playoffs as they can by paying for a team that can win it all. The risk vs. reward for paying those one or two elite players that will get the team a championship must not be worth it, in dollars and cents, in their eyes. Nothing else explains these “close but no cigar” teams we’ve had to put up with in Cleveland all these years.
Will the Indians sign a bat or two for this season to help out their great pitching? Don’t count on it.
Will the Browns sing a couple of established, great players to continue their rise upwards? Nope - take a look at what they did in the off-season and draft for proof.
Will the Cavs clear a little more of the “has beens” off their roster and get LeBron and Z a bona-fide All-Star, which is what they will need to get back to the Finals before LeBron leaves? I’m not holding my breath, and neither should anyone else. We’ll probably get another “Larry Hughes” who refuses to play the role alongside LeBron and Z.
Call me when the Cavs, Indians or Browns have really accomplished something, like making the Finals, World Series or Superbowl. Until then, I’m going to be spending my extra time outdoors, playing with the kids more, doing anything constructive and gratifying instead of becoming frustrated everytime a Cleveland team chokes - which has been pretty much every year lately.
Good luck, sports fans. I’m out.
