Draft Discussion

“Lakers vs orlando. Looked like a german sherperd vs a poodle that’s ok the rotwieler celtics will b back in 2o10.’’ -Paul Pierce

Thursday’s Draft has come around quite quickly after the Bore-o-lympics known as the NBA finals, time to spark some discussion.
The Celtics have the #58 Overall Pick and Rumors have been abound about the C’s moving up. Of course Mr. Ainge wants none of that:
“We have nothing close to happening,’’ Ainge said. “I would guess that there would not be anything [on draft night]. We like the free agent market of veteran players much more than we like the draft.’’
Of course that means NOTHING!

Courtney Fells is another option (potential replacement for Tony Allen/JR Giddens?)

I wrote something on this subject….Celtics, Draft Day, Ray Allen……for my own blog, found here: http://hibachi20.blogspot.com/

I’ve heard alot of talk about the kid pictured below the poodle-Emir Prelzic. He is a Turkoglu type- 6′8″ 220, wiry, but he is very young (22 I believe) so still can bulk up and may even grow a bit more. If they do NOT trade up, I’d love to see them take Tyrese Rice. Ty would bring an instant ability to score and make some plays for other guys. Other than Blake Griffin, I really don’t see anyone worth trading say a Ray Allen for. PLEASE don’t do it Danny! There is really not much out there that we can get in the 1st rd that will make us significantly better. I’d rather just pick Rice and then sign another good defender like Dahntay Jones…:https://twitter.com/stephenasmith/status/2283946726

Jesus! (no pun intended) looks like Ray and Rondo were almost traded again…

Tyrese has a verbal committment from Cleveland from what i hear and will probably go with the last pick in the 1st round.
Prezlic if drafted will more than likely never join the C’s, so I’m hoping the go for someone who can play summer league/potentially contribute next year.

No way Dumars took that trade, would’ve been a coop for Danny…
Imagine starting Stuckey/Hamilton/Pierce/KG/Perk and bringing Prince off the bench, would be nice.
Stuckey doesnt have Rondo’s handle, but he definitely is a better finisher and can shoot.
Hamilton is a young Ray Allen with shorter range (Eddie House will still be available hopefully).
Prince is what makes the deal work.
But its not happening…

“The one thing I can assure you – I will never sit up here and say there is one player that is untradeable ever – but the notion we might be trading him because of some reason other than we think we can be better (is not true),” said Ainge. “I’ve heard speculation of his contract situation. I’ve heard speculation of we’re dissatisfied with him or his attitude – that stuff is so false. He showed up late for a playoff game so we’re going to trade him. That’s not true. We love the kid and he has a very bright future.”

Yes-that would have been a hell of a deal! House has 7 days to jump on that 2 million $ option. I hope he stays. Thx for the info about Tyrese-good for him, bad for us. It will be an interesting night either way.

Don’t forget….The KG trade came AFTER draft day. We’ll probably have to wait until November to find out who comes back and who moves on.
On a personal note, I thought it was pretty low of D.A. to air out Rondo’s dirty laundry during a WEEI talk show. If there were team matters that remained in the locker room, it should have stayed there. I did agree with D.A. stating the obvious…that Rondo’s inability to hit open jumpers allowed Orlando to double up on Ray and P.P.
Three trade rumors and counting involving Rondo and Ray Allen……sounds like the same chatter that was circulating about Big Al and Gerald Green before they got dealt. I’d be suprised to see Rondo still in green in October or until February trade deadline. Any rumors on what Orlando is doing with Jameer & Rafer??

Haven’t heard anything ’bout Orlando. I have heard: Shaq to Cavs for Ben Wallace, Pavlovic and Cavs 1st rd pick. Also Jamal Crawford to ATL..??

Shaq has just joined Lebron’s court. Damn Lebron, Shaq, and Mo is a nice combo on paper….and they got to keep Z. Still looking to get trade Perk??
Any word on Tyson Chandler?
June 25th, 2009 at 7:20 pm
Tyson was Clevelands backup plan, so he’s still available as is Peja’s awful contract.
Shaq doesnt change things dramatically in the East IMO, prolly an Elton Brand situation where all you see is whats on paper. But if sheed goes there too, they could be trouble. If they move Big Z, i’d try to nab him as a backup.

Vinsanity to the nets for Lee and Alston, I think Lee is better overall than carter, so I dont see it was a win for Orlando.
June 26th, 2009 at 2:44 am
Yeah I don’t see it as a win either for Orlando….except it might help sell more tickets!!
